Rescued Pit Bull Finds Joy and Love After Abandoned House Adventure

During an exploration of abandoned houses in St. Louis, Donna, a rescuer from the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, realized that these forsaken structures might serve as refuge for abandoned, frightened dogs.

Driven by curiosity, Donna set out to investigate further and soon discovered a pit bull in desperate need of help.

Initially, Donna intended to set a trap, hoping the dog would enter on her own. However, when the pup failed to appear, Donna decided to continue her search.

Upon venturing to the back of the house, she made a surprising discovery.

“There were actually footprints leading up into the house. It seemed the dog managed to climb the steps and leap inside,” Donna recounted to The Dodo.

Determining that the stairs were unsafe to climb, Donna and her team located a safer way through the basement, assuming the dog wouldn’t be there due to a leaking pipe.

Cautiously, Donna navigated her way upwards, and it wasn’t until she reached the third floor that she noticed a small head peeping out from the debris.

Approaching the anxious dog gently, Donna spoke softly to assure her of the assistance at hand. Although hesitant, the pit bull eventually allowed Donna to put a leash on her. With a gentle nudge, the dog began to follow, leading them out of the house.

Once outside, the pup eagerly jumped into the car, her excitement palpable during the trip to the rescue center.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, the dog showered Donna and her team with affectionate kisses, expressing her thanks for the rescue.

“The stereotype of pit bulls being aggressive is just not true. They are among the most affectionate and gentle dogs,” Donna reflected, noting the dog’s sweet demeanor.

At the rescue center, staff checked for a microchip but found none, so the pit bull was put up for adoption.
