At West Midlands Safari Park in Bewdley, Worcestershire, a young African lion named Tsavo has fathered two litters of cubs, much to the delight of park keepers and visitors.
Tsavo’s interactions with lionesses Scar and Amber have resulted in seven lively cubs born just weeks apart.

Last spring, the five-year-old lion Tsavo had romantic encounters with ten-month-old Scar and seven-year-old Amber. Unexpectedly, both lionesses became pregnant, leading to two simultaneous litters.
The park staff has named the cubs starting with ‘H.’ Scar’s cubs are called Hunter, Hercules, and Hernatty (two males and a female), while Amber’s cubs are Harabi, Hodge, Havoc, and Hira (three males and a female).

Chris Hodgkins, the Head Keeper of Carnivores, shared his excitement: “We are so excited to share our news about our latest arrivals.”
The two sets of cubs have formed a close bond, engaging in playful interactions. Keepers look forward to introducing them to their father, Tsavo and the rest of the pride in the coming weeks.
Scar and Amber, as first-time mothers, have shown remarkable maternal instincts, and the cubs have been vaccinated and gradually introduced to each other and their surroundings.

Visitors can see these adorable cubs starting in the upcoming February half term. Their playful antics are sure to captivate everyone who sees them.
Tsavo’s adventures have brought unexpected joy to the West Midlands Safari Park, highlighting the wonder and unpredictability of nature. This heartwarming story showcases the beauty and resilience of the animal kingdom.
