Angelina Jolie made a stunning appearance at Deadline Hollywood’s seventh annual “The Contenders” event in West Hollywood, drawing attention with her chic black mini-dress and bold red lips.
The Oscar-winning actress and director arrived at the Directors Guild of America Theater on Saturday wearing a black-knit turtleneck mini-dress and matching leather booties styled by Jen Rade—the 41-year-old mother of six accessorized with dark aviator sunglasses and a perky ponytail.

Jolie charmed her Los Angeles-area fans outside the venue by signing autographs and posing for selfies. It’s been a year since her legal separation from her third husband, Brad Pitt, after two years of marriage. The couple has three biological children: Shiloh and twins Vivienne & Knox.
At the event, Jolie joined longtime friend and co-screenwriter Loung Ung, who wore a sleeveless black dress.

The two met 16 years ago, and their collaboration led to the adaptation of Ung’s 2006 memoir, “First They Killed My Father,” into a Netflix film currently streaming.
Jolie announced during a Q&A that this film is Cambodia’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at next year’s Academy Awards.
Loung Ung expressed admiration for Jolie, stating, “We clicked right away – she was authentic. She hates it when I gush about her in public, but she’s really cool!” Ung also mentioned that Cambodians consider Jolie to be one of their own.

Jolie became a Cambodian citizen in 2005 and has embraced the culture since she adopted her son Maddox from the country.
In “First They Killed My Father,” Jolie’s son Maddox received an executive-producing credit, while her other son Pax contributed by capturing still photography. Jolie spoke about the significance of the film, noting that every Cambodian involved knew someone affected by the war.
She praised the artists who returned to act and paint the sets, saying, “Having the artists come back to paint the sets and act the scenes was so inspiring. You’re not sad about the story but proud of what this country can do creatively.”

The film has garnered critical acclaim, with an 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 72% on Metacritic.
Jolie will soon start production on the sequel to Disney’s “Maleficent,” where she reprises her role as the iconic villain. Before that, she is an executive producer on “The Breadwinner,” an animated feature set in Afghanistan.
Directed by Nora Twomey, the film is based on the 2001 novel by Deborah Ellis. It follows a courageous girl disguised as a boy to provide for her family after her father is arrested. The movie is set to premiere in US theaters on November 17 and in UK theaters on May 25.
