Every dog deserves boundless affection, not the sting of abandonment and betrayal. Unfortunately, some heartless owners continue to neglect their pets, leaving them alone without a second thought.
Raymond, like many other forsaken dogs, never anticipated being abandoned by the very people he trusted. The heartbreaking event unfolded when his owners took him to a hiking trail in Michigan and left him there to survive on his own.

Watching them drive away, Raymond was left bewildered and hurt. He had always believed in their love and thought they would return for him. Hopeful, Raymond remained seated on a pile of wood chips, vigilantly observing the parking lot for any sign of his family.
For five days, the loyal pup waited patiently, unwavering in his hope. As The KG Foundation shared on TikTok, “Day after day, for five long days, he sat on a pile of wood chips overlooking the parking lot, waiting for his ‘family’ to come back.”
Hikers passing by noticed the forlorn dog, deducing he had been abandoned. Despite their desire to help, Raymond’s trust in strangers was shattered. One woman attempted a rescue, only for him to retreat each time someone approached.

Persistently returning to his makeshift perch, Raymond hoped for his owners’ return. Realizing she needed help, the woman reached out to The KG Foundation. Jordan Covington, founder of the rescue organization, quickly sprang into action and went to the trail.
Aware of Raymond’s cautious nature, Covington expected a lengthy and challenging mission to gain his trust. To her surprise, Raymond, tired and hungry, approached her when she offered him food, aware of his desperate need for help.
Covington escorted Raymond to animal control. Following the completion of his stray hold, he found refuge at A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue in Southeastern Michigan. At the shelter, Raymond’s demeanor gradually improved. He became animated, greeting other dogs with a wagging tail, much to Covington’s delight.

Covington expressed her relief, stating to The Dodo, “It was the first time I saw his little butt wiggle, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, thank God, because he was really just a shell of a dog.'”
Just as his future began to brighten, Raymond fell ill, experiencing vomiting spells. Veterinarians diagnosed him with pneumonia, administering oxygen and the necessary treatment.
Thanks to the dedicated care of the veterinary team, Raymond’s health improved, and he was soon ready to return to the shelter. Despite his past hardships, Raymond remains hopeful for a brighter future. He is friendly and enjoys interacting with people.
Raymond is now seeking a foster home where he can recuperate. Once fully recovered, he will embark on a journey to find a permanent home, eagerly awaiting the chance to experience genuine love from a forever family.
