A stray cat brought to a veterinary clinic had a hopeful turn of fate thanks to the team at Best Friends Felines.

When staff contacted Nikki and her team, they described the cat as friendly, likely having known a home before.

Despite efforts to find her original owners, no one came forward, and the cat began to show signs of sadness in her kennel.

The clinic urged the team to find a foster home as she was very pregnant and needed immediate care.

The Best Friends Felines team quickly arranged a foster setup, and soon, the cat settled in, albeit a bit cautiously. Her spirit lifted after a few comforting belly rubs, and she quickly adapted to her new home.

Days after her arrival, she received a check-up at the vet. Shortly afterward, she surprised everyone by going into labor.

By evening, she had delivered three healthy kittens and a fourth. The foster family named the devoted mom Callooh. Given how smoothly she managed everything, they suspected this wasn’t her first litter.

In her new, quiet environment, Callooh blossomed, even becoming playful with her foster family. She’d eagerly meet them at the kitten room door, thrilled to receive attention or a quick belly rub.

Callooh’s kittens, Brillig, Wocky, Wabe, and Jubjub (named after characters from “Jabberwocky”), grew quickly, doubling in size within their first week.

Each kitten showed a distinct personality: Wocky, a fluffy, vocal white kitten, earned the nickname “Falkor” after the creature in The NeverEnding Story, while Wabe, another white kitten, displayed a calm, laid-back demeanor.

Jubjub, a ginger-and-white kitten, loved to race around his pen with intense focus, while Brillig, the smallest tortoiseshell kitten, held her own during playful wrestling matches.

As the kittens became more adventurous, Callooh enjoyed her rare moments of calm with her human caregivers, greeting them warmly every morning.

Though she began spending more time apart from her energetic kittens, she remained attentive, catering to their needs and welcoming visitors with affectionate purrs and rubs.

This small family has continued to thrive, and the kittens are now on the verge of exploring their next big adventure.
