In a delightful incident that has gone viral, a mischievous wild elephant was caught on camera snatching hay from a truck in Thailand.
The playful encounter occurred along a road running through Khao Yai National Park in Nakhon Ratchasima province.
The elephant, spotted waiting by the roadside, immediately took advantage of the truck driver’s pause, seizing hay.
Afterward, the hefty animal entertained itself by kicking the bale apart, tossing pieces over its back before munching on some as a snack. Meanwhile, the cautious truck driver slowly drove away, closely followed by a line of vehicles.
Kanchit Srinoppawan, the park’s director, mentioned that he had sent an employee to purchase hay to help mark a route for an upcoming marathon. He expressed surprise at how perfectly timed the elephant’s antics were.
Within Khao Yai National Park, Indian elephants like this one roam freely. This is not the first time these majestic animals have made headlines.
In January 2015, one elephant caused a stir by crushing a car in an attempt to mate, with the driver surprisingly viewing the incident as a sign of good luck.
Later that year, however, another motorcyclist reported a harrowing escape after being surrounded by a herd of elephants.
