A heartbreaking incident occurred when a dog was hit by a car and left severely injured on the roadside. Instead of offering help, the driver merely moved her aside and left the scene.
The dog, unable to move due to excruciating pain, lay helpless for five days without food or water, exposed to the elements. Eventually, someone noticed her plight and contacted a rescue team.
As the rescuers approached, the dog showed a glimmer of hope in her eyes, sensing that her dire situation was about to change. They carefully stayed by her side until a veterinarian arrived to assess her condition.
Suspecting a serious spinal injury, the vet advised that moving her without caution could be dangerous. With this in mind, they gently transported her to a clinic where she could receive the proper care.
At the clinic, they placed her in a kennel to rest as they devised a treatment plan. An X-ray revealed the extent of her injuries—three fractured vertebrae and a crushed spinal cord. Her overall health was also poor, evidence of the harsh life she had endured as a stray.
Despite the challenging outlook given by the vet—indicating she might never walk again—her rescuers were determined not to abandon her. They named her Snezhana and ensured she felt loved and supported.
In the following days, Snezhana received medications and fluids while being cleaned of fleas and ticks. Gradually, the swelling in her back reduced, and although moving was painful, small signs of recovery began to manifest. A month later, an encouraging update came from the vets: she was regaining sensation in her paws.
That glimmer of hope fueled the team to maintain their efforts, incorporating gentle exercises into her routine. Four months of dedicated care later, Snezhana was moving more freely and even taking short walks by herself.
The progress Snezhana made filled the rescuers and veterinary team with pride. Today, she’s a much happier dog, enjoying her regained ability to walk and showing gratitude with every step.
While Snezhana will never completely recover, she has found something far more precious—a forever home. Her rescuer, who adopted her, has promised to stay by her side for all future journeys, ensuring she is never alone again.
