Abandonment is a significant problem affecting many dogs today, with countless animals ending up on the streets or in shelters for reasons that often seem senseless. More frequently, however, owners part with their dogs when they become inconvenient, leaving the animals confused and waiting for an owner who will never return.
Such was the plight of a sweet dog who was abandoned by her owner. Fortunately for her, a compassionate individual noticed her situation and chose to intervene. The rescuer, upon encountering her, was taken aback by the sight of her serious leg injury, an injury she sustained during playtime. Rather than caring for her, her former owner heartlessly turned her away, abandoning her to the streets.

After being left alone, the dog found her way to an abandoned house nearby, holding onto hope that she might be taken back home. It was a hope cruelly dashed by her previous owner, who refused to acknowledge her when approached by the rescuer.
Determined to help, the rescuer brought the dog to a veterinary clinic. The vet revealed that had she not been treated when she was, she might have lost her leg. Thanks to prompt medical intervention, which included cleaning and medicating her wound, she was on the road to recovery, albeit slowly.
This news was a relief to her rescuer. He took her home for further care, ensuring she continued her medication regimen. After ten days, a follow-up visit to the vet confirmed her recovery was progressing well, though a minor surgical procedure was needed to more thoroughly clean her wound. The operation was successful, and with it, the dog, now named Keiko, returned home with her rescuer.
In the loving care she received, Keiko thrived physically and emotionally. She not only regained her health but also found happiness with a fellow canine companion. Together, they enjoyed playing outside, much to her rescuer’s delight. One of Keiko’s newfound pleasures was playing in the water; she cherished being clean and felt uneasy when dirty, prompting her rescuer to assist her with baths.
Despite initially considering finding her a permanent home elsewhere, Keiko’s rescuer became too fond of her to let her go. He decided to adopt her himself, making her an official member of his family. Despite the adversity she faced, Keiko showed remarkable resilience, and she now enjoys a joyful life with someone who truly cares for her.
